What the bystander covers
Day shift and night shift — different needs, same standard.
What a patient needs at 2pm is very different from what they need at 2am. BetterHands bystanders are trained for both — and can be booked independently for each shift.
Day Shift
7am – 7pm · Rs. 3,500
Day shifts are the busiest period — doctor rounds, procedures, meal times, and family visits. The bystander acts as the patient's advocate and point of contact, ensuring nothing is missed and the patient's needs are communicated clearly to the ward team.
- Feeding assistance at breakfast and lunch
- Personal hygiene and grooming support
- Accompaniment during ward rounds
- Communication with doctors and nurses
- Escort to procedures, scans, and tests
- Family updates via WhatsApp or calls
- Medication administration monitoring
- Emotional reassurance and company
Night Shift
7pm – 7am · Rs. 3,500
Night shifts are the period families worry about most — when hospital staffing is reduced, patients are disoriented, and pain and distress peak. The bystander provides a calm, consistent presence through the night, responding immediately and alerting nurses when needed.
- Continuous overnight presence and monitoring
- Repositioning to prevent pressure sores
- Night-time feeding and hydration support
- Toilet and hygiene assistance
- Immediate response to distress or pain
- Nurse escalation when needed
- Disorientation and confusion management
- Morning briefing to incoming family or day bystander

Yes. A bystander provides personal care, support, and monitoring — not clinical procedures. A private nurse performs clinical nursing tasks. Many families use a bystander for personal care with a nurse for specific clinical needs. BetterHands provides both — coordinated from one team.
